Banquet?
So I am looking for a place to hold our Cheer Banquet that will hold 120 or so people and not cost us a fortune. We have previously used Saddle Up in South Jordan but I think this year we have just outgrown it. So.. Anyone have any ideas??
Miners vs Huskies
This week we played the Hillcrest Huskies and won 26-20. We had some great weather and looked like we had it in the bag by halftime but our boys are their own worst enemy and seem to quit while they are ahead. Instead we were forced to hold them at the end of the game in order to win, but we did it! Bringing our record to 6-2. And hopefully securing our spot in the playoffs! We play Bountiful this week which will decide if we go in as third place or fourth.
Wish us luck!
Braxton's team had an unfortunate loss to Copper Hills 13-6.
Making their record 5-3.
I love football but I am almost ready for it to be over. We have some cranky parents and players and cheerleaders too making it no fun for me dealing with all of them! Makes for a cranky coach too! Only 3 more games and 1 more cheer practice!
Go Miners!

Miners vs Hawks Round 2 (Two Weeks Later)
We had the chance to face Alta again (a different team) on Saturday October 11th and this time walked away with a win! I don't remember much about that game now that it's two weeks later but we won 19-6 and Cody had 1 or 2 touchdowns...
And the boys on the Alta team told Cody he was a Monster!
It feels great to beat Alta!!
Braxton's team beat Granger 22-0. Great job Elmen boys!

My newest addiction is FaceBook.. Ever been on there? You can find all sorts of people you've lost and never thought you would see again! I highly recommend it!! Kinda like a MySpace but maybe a little more on the grown up side.
Miners vs Hawks
I'd love to make a post that says we killed Alta, showed up and rolled right over them, but unfortunately that wouldn't be true. Our Miners lost to Alta 27-0 in a rainy, muddy, nightmare of a game. Cody looked like a dirt clod when he was done and the rest of us were soaked! Our defense held up against them pretty well, but our offense was no match. I think the weather got to our boys long before Alta ever did. We play another Alta team this Saturday at home. Let's hope for better weather and better results. Miners need a win to make a run at the playoffs!
On a positive note, Braxton's team won.
On a positive note, Braxton's team won.
Beating West in a shutout 31-0.
Fierce!
"I smile because you are my sister, I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!"
I own two beautiful sisters! And I've had the privilege of playing Fairy Godmother to both of them with school dances and such. Chanel has always enjoyed it a little more than Brooke, but I think that deep inside her tiny black beating heart that Brooke is really a girly-girl wanting to shine! Well, not really but it sounded good. She's more of a "I'll give you 30 minutes to make me look respectable and then I'm leaving whether I look good or not" sort of a girl. Luckily with some help from everyone, we made sure Brooke looked fierce for Homecoming. Tyra would be so proud!

Brooke and Jake
And while I had no part in how my brother looked that night, I think Blake turned out looking pretty good himself!
Blake and Shannon
Hope you both had fun!

Dragon Pride
I got a call from Kellie's school on Tuesday to tell me she had been sent down to the office to sign the principal's pride book. Her teacher nomintated her for being so friendly to everyone. This new school has been so good for her. I love that she leaves for school excited and comes home the same way! It has taken her a while to come out of her shell but now she grows so much every day!
I'm so glad she has all these new opportunities available to her!
Great job Kelz! Keep it up!! I'm so proud of you!
Miners vs Buffalos..Round 2
Different team this time, same result.
Our score was 52-0. Our boys were awesome! #13 played a fine game with one touchdown a few extra points and a couple of great tackles. And 2 dropped passes!! :( Our defense maintained their shut out record, making us 4-1 with no points scored on us since the first game. The hard portion of our season is coming up with two back to back games against Alta. If we can get past those, there is no stopping us!!
Next stop..Hawks vs Miners Saturday 3:00 pm.
Braxton's team beat West Jordan 14-7, their record 3-2.
Great Job Boys!!
Office of the Chief
So I guess I was nomintated for this award..see my post about civilian employee of the month..and with it came an invitation for lunch with my Chief at Little America. So lunch was yesterday and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done! We had three assistant chiefs come with us and I felt so important! Our Chief is so down to earth and easy going and funny! I loved him! He drove us to lunch and came across as so interested in my thoughts and ideas and you could tell he really cared about trying to make our department a better place to be. Positive recognition doesn't come freely around this place and I have to say some of my co-workers have been pretty bitter towards the two of us that got this award. It makes it hard to be excited and want to share but I actually enjoyed going and being recognized for something we did. Hopefully it's not the last time! So today I can say.. I love my job!! Thanks Chief!!

Civilian Employee of the Month

On August 24, 2008, Dispatcher Corey Boyle received a call from a man in Anchorage, Alaska, who said a friend of his had called saying he had taken a large amount of medication in a suicide attempt and was located somewhere in the woods along a trail in Salt Lake City.
Boyle obtained additional information from the complainant, including the subject’s cell phone number, a description of his vehicle and a phone number for the subject’s parents.
Knowing that time is of essence in such a situation, Boyle worked quickly with the help of Dispatcher Sara Elmen to research the situation. They were able to obtain several pages of cell tower information from the cell phone company and reviewed each call placed from the subject’s phone.
After carefully deciphering the information from the cell towers, Boyle was able to determine the subject was in the Bountiful City-area. He contacted the Davis County Sheriff’s office and relayed the information, along with a vehicle description.
Davis County started checking all the hiking trails in its jurisdiction and was able to find the subject. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Although the outcome of this situation was unfortunate, without the extensive research and focus by Dispatchers Boyle and Elmen, the subject never may have been located. Their efforts show the level of concern and dedication of dispatchers, who truly go above and beyond in performing their normal job duties.
